Extreme contouring and highlighting

Extreme contouring is used for photography purposes and is not an everyday look - it is very over the top and exaggerates some features to large extent.

A demonstration

  • Apply a primer to the face
  • Scrape some of the desired highlighter colour out onto a palette
  • Apply this to the designated areas on the face (see below)
  • Blend this out using a clean brush so that the areas are not as clearly defined/have sharp edges

  • Select 3 colours which you are going to use for contouring
  • Apply the lightest colour to the areas on the face that you will be contouring e.g. the cheekbones, the sides of the nose, the top/sides of the forehead, and around the eyes
  • Gradually build this contouring up, working in the darker colours on top of the lighter colour
  • Continue blending and building this up until you are satisfied
  • Powder the make-up to set it in place
